Whatever KICC are doing it would appear that they are certainly damaging original plasterwork. This can clearly be seen through the front doors. This is heartbreaking. There seems to no care and no regard for the historical fabric of this wonderful building. One might well ask what is the point of protesting if the local council officers are allowing KICC to flaunt the council and ignore us.Crystal Palace certainly does not need an evangelical church but somebody on the council really does need to take responsibility and uphold the letter of their own planning regulations instead of allowing KICC to ride rough shod over democracy!
When I was a boy brought up and living in South Norwood between 1927 and 1951, there were two cinemas near the Crystal Palace, both in Church Road. They were next door to each other, the Rialto and the Albany. We used to go up there quite often via the Robin Hood, first by tram, and then by trolley bus.
