I was born, raised and lived in Crystal Palace all of my life. When I was a child I used to go to the Saturday Matinee for kids every week and it was a haven for us children.
We have more than our fair share of churches all around the area. Too many imfact. If I recall they even knocked down a beautiful one just further along from the cinema called St. Aubyns Church and replaced it with a brick box, (although still a church). So we most defintely do not need another one!
It breaks my heart to think that slowly all the beautiful architecture and interiors are disappearing from this area, an area which once marked the best of everything and everyone from all around the world.
25 Church Road was built for entertainment. They have stripped us of every building which had ever been constructed for this purpose. We need our cinema back and the beautiful interior deserves to be seen and preserved for everyone for many years to come.
We definitely need a cinema in Crystal Palace!!!
Couldn’t agree more Eva – it would be the icing on the cake and something that would benefit the whole of the community and that lots of people could enjoy.
Just bought my first home in Crystal Palace. I’d really love to see the cinema building returned to it’s former glory, and restored as a cinema. I would definately visit regularly. I strongly object to turning It into a church/place of religious worship, and feel this would exclude the majority the local community, and be detrimental to the regeneration of Crystal Palace.
A cinema please.
Hi pkwendall – thanks for you support and welcome to the area. Hope you are settling in well. If you want to do something to support the campaign then please read our latest post and email update about objecting to KICC’s latest proposals.
We just move into the area few months ago and we love it! A cinema is definitely ice on the cake for the area and eventually we may turn Crystal Palace into an area as desirable as Wimbledon!
This is just what the triangle needs. All we have is pubs and restaurants and it would be great to have some evening entertainment other than bingo (not my thing!).
My wife and I would love for the building to become a cinema and we would definitely use it regularly,
Notting Hill, Brixton and Clapham have shown that pictures houses can be run very successfully. if Crystal Palace is lucky enough to have such a historic building, it can be made to work too and will undoubtedly be a great asset to the area.
